Plan for your future career with an apprenticeship

August is here and across the UK thousands of young people are receiving their GCSE and A-Level results and starting to plan their future. Starting your career can be intimidating and there are a number of paths you can take, from university to apprenticeships or finding an entry level job. Now is the time for you to review the paths available to you and decide what is best for your life and goals. In this article we will discuss why you should consider the apprenticeship path.

Learn as you earn

Apprenticeships allow you to work full time while gaining a qualification. Hamid, a Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketer apprentice with Inspire ATA explains: “The biggest benefit is that I learn on and off the job, gaining the relevant knowledge, skills and experience which I can put into practice in my role. I get paid and its debt-free, and I do not have to pay any fees as it is government funded, so I get to learn and earn throughout my apprenticeship. After completing my apprenticeship, I hope to be provided with a full-time position in my workplace where I had been completing my apprenticeship.”

Gain work experience

A crucial part of apprenticeships is the fact that you work a full-time job while studying. This unique aspect of apprenticeships helps you grow your work experience, enhancing your CV and giving you an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs.

As Madi, a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprentice with Inspire ATA said: “By doing an apprenticeship I have learnt skills that are directly relevant to the career I want. It gave me the opportunity to have work experience in this field. I think another benefit of an apprenticeship is the support you get, although you’re working you also get so much advice and help.”

Receive support

Apprenticeships are aimed at building careers. During an apprenticeship you are supported by both your tutors and your employer which helps you grow and develop.

Hannah, a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprentice, shared her experience: “Emily and Julie from Inspire ATA have supported me a lot. They are just the best they always answer any questions and are very supportive through my work they give me pointers and make sure I am okay and comfortable and have monthly check ins making sure I am still happy and feeling and always check on my mental health.
