How apprenticeship training works

Employees on an apprenticeship programme receive weekly training sessions throughout the duration of the programme as they work towards a qualification in their chosen field. A training programme typically lasts between 12-18 months though some can be longer at the end of which the apprentice takes an assessment in order to gain their qualification.

The cost of the apprenticeship training is included in the hosting costs paid to Inspire ATA allowing you to gain qualified staff and close skills gaps in your business in a cost-effective way.

How are the apprenticeships delivered?

Inspire ATA work with a range of vetted and recognised apprenticeship training providers to deliver the training programmes to ensure that the apprentices receive the best education and outcomes as possible. The training is delivered online by experienced tutors with expertise in their field.

Off-the-job training (OTJ) hours

Off-the-job (OTJ) training is training that apprentices participate in during their working hours that are outside of their day-to-day work duties. OTJ training is a legal requirement as part of the apprenticeship process and is designed to help the apprentices further develop their skills and knowledge within their chosen field. The legal requirements of OTJ Training are regularly updated by the Department for Education.

What counts as OTJ training?

OTJ hours are a vital part of this apprenticeship. Training is directly relevant to the programme and can take many forms, including:

  • Individual study time for reflection and growth
  • Apprenticeship tutor sessions and webinars
  • Group learning opportunities (like inset days)
  • Shadowing experienced colleagues
  • Mentoring from line managers
  • 1:1 performance reviews and feedback
  • Attending meetings and briefings
  • Learning new policies
  • Relevant YouTube/TV shows
  • Professional development
  • Online courses
  • Enrichment activities
  • Research and learning
  • Collaborative planning/resource preparation

Progression pathways

Inspire ATA offer several apprenticeship programmes that can be used as progression pathways for apprentices in order to develop their skills and gain further qualifications. Once your apprentice has completed their programme, you can choose to place them on a progression pathway if one is available. If you are interested in placing a current apprentice on a progression pathway, please contact your account manager or book a discovery call with the Inspire ATA team.

What if the apprenticeship doesn’t work out?

While Inspire ATA works to ensure minimal risk in our recruitment, sometimes things don’t work out.
If there are any issues with your apprentice, Inspire ATA will take the responsibility of finding you a replacement and finding the apprentice a new placement, making the process risk and hassle free for your organisation.
