Develop the educators of tomorrow with Inspire ATA
Over the last few years schools and other educational settings have been struggling to recruit new teaching staff and retain existing staff. In 2024 41,736 new teachers entered the sector which is 1,400 less teachers than in previous year. While the number of leavers has also decreased, it is not enough to balance the lack of new teachers.
There are now at least 400 less full-time teachers than there were in the previous academic year. Additionally, among the teaching staff in school there are over 6000 teachers who do not have any relevant post A level qualification. How can we help close the gap and help introduce new teaching staff to schools and support their retention? Inspire ATA may be the solution.
The value of apprenticeship training
In 2024 there has been a 5% decrease in undergraduate Initial Teacher Training (ITT), showing that there is less of a demand in university education for teaching. This could be down to many reasons such as the raising costs of university education putting people off of pursuing that route or the demand for proven experience in entry level roles.
Perspective employees nowadays are looking for ways to gain valuable knowledge and experience without having to resort to student loans or putting their career on hold for a minimum of 3 years while they study.
Apprenticeships offer a solution for many of these demands. In apprenticeship training learners are able to learn as they earn gaining a qualification while working in their chosen sector, gaining experience and earning a wage.
Schools who utilise apprenticeships in their hiring strategy can benefit from motivated staff members who are eager to learn and develop within the field. Investing in your staff’s training can also help boost morale and support staff retention as you showcase to your team that your organisation is dedicated to their development.
