Teaching Assistant Hamdoun supports SEND pupils
There are currently over 1.7 million pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in England. Supporting those pupils adequately is essential to helping them get the best possible education.
To support this, Inspire ATA offer a bespoke SEND Pathway to the popular Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship programme. This programme helps apprentices to develop the necessary skills and knowledge needed to support SEND pupils.
Hamdoun is one of Inspire’s SEND Teaching Assistant apprentices working at Elsley Primary School. Hamdoun chose this apprenticeship as he felt it was the right way to progress his career, he adds: “I knew I can get more opportunities by doing an apprenticeship rather than going to university.”
Getting hands on experience working with SEND pupils was essential for Hamdoun in being able to develop his skills. Through this he has developed his communication skills, which he has stated are the most valuable skills he’s gained.
Hamdoun’s favourite thing about his role is working with the children, as well as “building connections and having positive effects on people’s lives.”
SEND pupils benefit greatly from additional support and having teaching assistants that are dedicated to supporting their needs, such as Hamdoun, makes a big difference in their lives.
Hamdoun is now looking for the next step of his career, but he feels confident with the impact he has made so far.
Well done Hamdoun, best of luck in the future!
