Khadija, age 23, is a Teaching Assistant at Manorfield Primary School.

She’s always had a passion working in a school environment. She enjoys being able to connect with the children.

In a recent meeting with her tutor, Khadija shared her story.

“I knew I wanted to work in a school but wasn’t really sure what route to take. The apprenticeship was the best balance between working and learning. I like meeting new people and the apprenticeship seemed like the perfect opportunity to do this. I have met so many lovely people on my journey so far, my team have always been so welcoming and supportive. I am so pleased and happy that I chose this route.

The best thing about my job role is the different challenges and roles you take on every day. Teaching the children and learning from them in return. Meeting new people has been great. Getting to know the children’s families and backgrounds and finding ways to help them as it all helps to support the child’s learning. My favourite part of the job is connecting with the children and knowing when they feel comfortable around me. It’s heart-warming knowing they trust me.

Having other inspire apprentices who work at the same school has been beneficial to my learning. We all come together and support each other and share what we have learned, and it has really helped me on my journey.

I have received an offer of permanent employment with my placement once my apprenticeship has finished. I am so happy I get to stay in the place I love, doing a job that I love.”
